Cambridge by Moore & Giles

Cambridge from Moore & Giles is made on full-grain buffalo hides. This thick leather features a striking pull-up effect that subdues the sheen on the hide, and replaces it with a lighter, worn or matte effect where the leather is stressed.  This creates what is – to me – the most natural-looking vintage effect from day one. It is made to look lived-in.

Another standout quality of Cambridge is the rich and surprisingly soft hand achieved through an extensive milling process, and the innovative wax treatment.

You should expect significant variation in color from hide to hide and even within a hide, but the overall effect when upholstered is simply stunning.  Cambridge lends itself to an authentic aged classic look as well as a more rustic leather feel. The colorway is made up of several subdued colors that act as neutrals, working with a variety of interior styles.

  • Sycamore – a warm golden brown saddle color
  • Dark Rum – A richer warm brown with a hint of red
  • Winterpine – earthy pine green
  • Moss – hints of brown and green, almost a khaki
  • Wolf – warm medium taupey brown
  • Wheat –  lighter, golden cognac, paler than Sycamore
  • Blue Smoke – a navy with grey overtones
  • Pigeon – charcoal grey
  • Lipstick – a rich and inviting red

You can see some of the authentic “worn-in” effect produced by Cambridge leather in this piece which is a Traditional Chesterfield Sectional now in our North Carolina showroom.  Here is a video showing off the Cambridge “Dark Rum”:

Cambridge is a versatile leather that is well suited for use on contemporary pieces or for an authentic vintage look on classic, modern, or tufted pieces. This would be a wonderful leather in a cozy lodge or for anyone looking for a rustic, lived-in look.
