Springs

Springs are often an out of sight-out of mind feature of a couch, but they are incredibly important in creating a comfortable couch.  They range from couches made with webbing (really?) to flexolator or sinuous springs (OK for an inexpensive couch) to elite, high end systems.

Our super comfortable furniture is made using the Soft-Luxe pocketed coil spring system from the Elite Spring series made by industry leader Leggett & Platt.  This system, which we selected after reviewing all of the options available, features 100+ coils per seat; the same type of coil used in top of the line mattresses, usually the most comfortable piece of furniture in your home.  These noiseless coils are individually encased in a non-woven fabric meaning there is never metal-to-metal contact.

Soft-Luxe Springs

The uniquely engineered inter-linked coil architecture provides uniform comfort and consistent support over the entire seating area.  the floating, barrel shaped encased coils provide a feeling of weightless suspension- a perfect harmonic balance without adding stress to the seat frame.  When the couch is sat upon, the load is spread over so many coils the result is a remarkable, even, comfortable support that contours to your body and does not allow for a fall off into the arm as other systems do.  The Soft-Luxe system is manufactured locally on state-of-the-art machinery to create a perfectly consistent product.  It is installed on an ultra strong, Propex membrane supported by hardened steel banding allowing us to offer a lifetime warranty on the product.

Our customers ask us all of the time ‘Why not eight way tied springs?”.  Our answer is that our system is simply better.  More comfortable; more durable.  In today’s world. a typical eight way tied system would have nine springs per seat. The person installing the springs for furniture would tie, or more often, loop strings through each spring connecting the springs to one another and then usually staple the string to the frame.  These strings are under tension every minute of every day of the life of the couch and the level of comfort, and durability, will vary depending on how tight the guy who installed the springs pulled the strings.

Many companies, such as Restoration Hardware are simply not being honest when they say they use “Eight Way Hand Tied Springs” but are instead using a machine made drop in unit that is designed to mimic eight way hand tied springs.
