Trend Report:
Black + White Chic

Patti Borrelli, COCOCOHome – Designer, Charlotte NC

In interior design, trends come and go. As with fashion, those trends tend to come full circle, like the timeless style of classic Black + White. Whether the interior style statement is made in retro-chic black-and-white tile patterns, or black-and-white photography (giving a nod to old Hollywood), or in bold textures and graphic prints: Black and White is back! …and with a modern twist for 2018.

Looks are bolder than ever with painted black ceilings and walls that definitely pack a punch.

The current black-and-white trend mixes clichéd with current for a fresh look. It adds hip details like layered rugs, textured cowhide accents, groovy gallery walls and so many lush layers you’ll definitely be craving some of this classic play on contrasts in your interiors too.

We’ve perused some ideas and pinned some serious black-and-white inspiration. We’ve stalked some favorite designers, and dug through our own photo files for some striking ways to blend the trend into your spaces.

We love this inspo from Victoria Smith (SF Girl By Bay). The clean, crisp color palette combined with the boho Cali vibe all work together, creating a playful, approachable design. Shapes, textures and graphic details tell a visual story. Our Mondo Single Chaise Sectional would look picture perfect in this setting, in fabric or leather.

Or, how about this sophisticated mix of textures and shapes?

You can get the look and re-create your own black-and-white inspired interior with one of our hair-on-hide ottomans.

Or, create your own take on the trend with our Classic Chesterfield in Brisa Coconut fabric (like this one at Forecast Interiors in Lexington, KY).

Or, be bold with a black statement piece, like our Clark Sofa or Un-tufted Arden Double-Chaise Sectional.

We like the way this interior inspiration mixes the beauty of a sleek black sofa with the always-hip photo gallery wall, featuring black-and-white prints and original art.

How about you? how are you incorporating the current black-and-white craze into your interiors?
